Summer Student – Engineering
POSITION SUMMARY
Working under the direction of the Senior Manager, Capital Projects and Engineering, the Engineering Student’s role is responsible for supporting various Departments including Drainage, Engineering, and GIS.  

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Creation, maintenance, editing, and acquisition of municipal data for all Departments within the Town of Kingsville.
  2. Maintenance and implementation of Municipal GIS databases and applications.
  3. Creation of standard and special-purpose maps, plans, sketches and reports of various geographic data as requested by all Departments within the Town of Kingsville.
  4. Prepare maps or documents for meetings and committees.
  5. Assist in maintaining the departments paper and electronic filing systems.
  6. Assist in the inspection of various construction projects.
  7. Assist the Drainage Superintendent, Development Engineer, and Engineering Technician with daily tasks.
  8. Any other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Capital Projects and Engineering.

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. A recent University or College Graduate in Computer Science or Engineering (or currently enrolled in one of these programs).
  2. Specialized courses for AutoCAD, ESRI ArcGIS, Geocortex Essential, and CityWorks are an asset.
  3. Advanced Certificate in GIS is an asset.
  4. Knowledge of using software packages including ESRI ArcGIS, Geocortex Essentials, Cityworks, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Office.
  5. General understanding of all other departments within the Town of Kingsville to be able to fulfill various requests and maintain data for these departments.
  6. Able to work outdoors and carry lightweight equipment. 
  7. Must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class ‘G2’ or ‘G’ Drivers Licence.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is in an office environment as well as outdoors on a 40 hour week.

Hourly Rate of Pay:
$22.44 per hour
