Permanent Part-Time Parks and Recreation Employee
Working under the direction of the Supervisor of Parks and Supervisor of Facilities, the Part Time Parks and Recreation Employee is responsible for assisting in general maintenance activities and operations of properties and facilities including the arena and public facilities; and supporting Town events and programs.Responsibilities:
1.General custodial work of facilities including cleaning, minor maintenance and construction and painting.
2.Set up and tear-down of rentals and events town run events, including set-up and delivery of items, garbage and recycling collection, and serving washroom areas
3.Regular inspection of municipal facilities and properties and performing tasks within daily/weekly maintenance programs
4.Flooding and minor maintenance of arena ice surface, monitor and record readings from arena compressor room, monitoring ice surface and public areas in arena for maintenance, and supporting ice rentals.
5.Performing snow removal and de-icing, as necessary, to sidewalks within municipal properties
6.Representing the Town professionally through effective and courteous verbal communications with park and facility users
7.Other related duties as assigned.
The requirements of the position includes:
•General knowledge of various trades required (building and trades maintenance)
•Highschool Diploma
•Ability to lift 50+ pounds.•Certification and training for WHIMIS, working at heights, propane handling, CPR/First Aid and AED, basic refrigeration, and elevated work platform considered assets.
•Class G Drivers licence
Working Conditions:
Work is in an indoor and outdoor environment on a 24 hour week. Shifts can vary between 7-12 hour days, midnights, rotating shifts and weekend shifts. Majority of work on weekends and afternoons
The position requires regular outdoor work with occasional exposure to chemical substances. Regular exposure to heat, cold and noise due to climate, equipment and traffic.
Rate of pay is in accordance with Schedule “A” of the Collective Agreement.
Range from $25.53- $26.53
