Temporary Full-Time Parks and Recreation (up to 10 months)

The job requirements of the position include:
  1. Horticultural and grounds maintenance.
  2. Custodial work at municipal facilities
  3. Carry out renovations in municipal facilities, including painting, installing lights and plumbing fixtures as required.
  4. Operating ice resurfacer, lawn mowers, tractors, and other small machinery.
  5. Arena building supervision and ensuring the facility is kept clean and tidy.
  6. Maintaining various parks, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, soccer fields,and the marina.
  7. Winter sidewalk snow removal at various locations.
  8. Ensure safe operation of all equipment and adhere to OHSA and municipal health and safety policies and procedures.
  9. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Parks and Facilities.

Qualifications
  1. Minimum grade 12 education.
  2. Have and maintain a G driver’s licence.
  3. Experience in the operation of small tools and equipment used for building and lawn maintenance.
  4. Be self-motivated and enjoy working outdoors.
  5. Post-secondary education in landscape architecture or horticultural technician will be considered an asset.
  6. First Aid and CPR training will be considered an asset.

Working Conditions
  • Work is typically performed in both inside and outdoor environments with the potential exposure to adverse weather conditions. 
  • The normal work schedule is forty (40) hours per week.
  • Work hours will be days, afternoons, weekends and holidays
The rate of pay is in accordance with Schedule "A" of the Collective Agreement. Range from $32.54- $33.54.
